47. 8/12/21-From former student Zakary Wiles
Updated: Aug 12, 2021
I first got to know of the studio my sophomore year of high school when the Artistic Director and School Coordinator came to direct my musical. I felt a constant pressure to do everything they asked to ensure that I had any chance of getting roles in my future shows at Hempfield. It paid off that year as I received a scholarship for their Summer camp. I was excited and that excitement turned into anxiety as I saw how the levels of popularity effected roles that were given. I saw as the Artistic Director's daughter and her friends all got lead roles and other people were thrown the scraps.
I am not trying to discredit the studio in any way. Changes need to be made so we don't lose the serious piece of Westmorland county
